Appointments

Doctors' Appointments
Appointments with the Doctors are timed for ten minutes. If you think your consultation may take longer than normal, please tell the receptionist when making your appointment.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, it is important that you let us know in good time, so we may offer this to someone else.

There are three ways you can make an appointment with one of our health care team.

The first way is to phone us on our main phone line which is 0844 477 3408 between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The second way is to come into the surgery and talk to one of the receptionists at the front desk.

The third way is to book online via the following link  https://access.e-mis.co.uk/ You will need to register at the surgery to use this method -it is very simple to use and provides an excellent additional method of contact. There are both next day and future appointments available for booking.

Please ring or come in for an appointment as early as possible on the day you wish to see a Doctor. We do book some appointments in  advance for the Doctors. Whilst these are available for anyone we do prefer them to be left for those patients working full time, or for children attending school that day who may require an early or late appointment, and for those who rely on another person for transport. It is clearly more difficult for these patients to attend anytime but if you feel that you need to book an appointment in advance, please mention this when making your call and we will do our best to help.

If you feel you must be seen the same day, as an emergency, please make this clear to staff. Please give them brief details of the problem and arrangements will be made for you to be seen or, in some instances, the Doctor may ring you back first.

We guarantee that you will be able to get an appointment to see a Healthcare Professional within 24 hours and a Doctor within 48 hours in line with Government/NHS directives, but we cannot guarantee that this will always be with the Doctor of your choice.

Doctors are available at various times during the day between 8:30 am and 5:50 pm (8.00 p.m. on a Monday and 7.30 a.m. on one morning a week)) to meet the preferred times of the majority of our patients.

Nurse Appointments
You can still book ahead to see our Practice Nurses or for the Asthma and Diabetes Clinic, Cryotherapy, and for the Midwife.

Trained Nurse Specialising in Minor Illness
We now have a Minor Illness Clinic on a regular basis-normally when one of the GP's is away due to current space constraints- run by Sara Land our trained nurse who is able to prescribe and has immediate access to a Doctor, should this need arise. A minor illness or ailment could include

Telephone Consultations
Telelphone consultations are useful for those people who need advice, for instance about their medication, but do not necessarily need to be seen by a Doctor. Our Receptionists should not ask intrusive questions and will always respect your privacy but it is helpful if you can give them the relevant information they need to ensure you are given the best possible service from the Practice.

Out of hours care
Please note that the Surgery is no longer open on Saturdays. This was agreed nationally in 2004 following the new GP contract and is not a local decision. Out of hours care is now the responsilibity of Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust and is provided by Derbyshire Health United.

The service covers evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 am the next day, weekends from 6:00 pm on Friday to Monday morning at 8:00 am, and public holidays. Please ensure that your call during these times is urgent in nature as innapropriate calls cause delays for those in real need. Please telephone the main surgery number and you will be transferred automatically to the On Call Service. Alternatively call NHS Direct on telephone number 0845 46 47 or look at some of the links on our useful websites page for any minor enquiries.
