Dizziness

Treatment in the home
  • Sit or lie down until the dizziness has stopped
  • Do not attempt to do things such as drive or carry on with your job
  • Sit and stand slowly
When to go to the doctor’s
  • If the dizziness is recurrent
  • If it interferes with any activity especially if this involves machinery or heights
  • If you are on treatment and your BP is low
Go IMMEDIATELY if;
  • You’ve had a recent head injury
  • You also have a headache or other neurological symptoms such as blackouts, double vision, tinnitus, vertigo, numbness or weakness.
  • You have recently become deaf particularly if your deafness has only occurred on one side
  • You have previously had ear surgery
